‘Help Conserve Our Water Supply’ Classroom Suite
The Central San Joaquin Valley is classified as a semi‑arid desert because it only receives an average of 11.5 inches of rainfall each year. The primary source of water for the Valley is groundwater! When rains come, the stormwater runoff is captured in basins where it recharges (helps replace) the groundwater. This suite of classroom materials was created to meet the State of California’s Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), in close collaboration with the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools. Seventh and Eighth grade NGSS standards met:
- MS-ESS3-1
- MS-ESS3-4
